You’re already a skincare professional. Access to Brands converts your experience into the Ofqual-regulated VTCT Level 2 & 3 credential that premium brands, insurers and Level 4 study ask for, without making you repeat what you already know, and walks you through exactly which brands and technologies it unlocks.

The part nobody tells you
Take ZO Skin Health, the medical-grade line clients describe as “the brand you can’t just buy.” You can’t pick it up in Boots, and you can’t stock it just because your clients keep asking for it. UK accounts run through Wigmore Medical, every account requires the brand’s own ZO Core training, and non-medical practitioners need a regulated Level 3 as their minimum way in. That friction isn’t a flaw: gatekept skincare is aspirational skincare, and the gate is your qualification.
And it’s not just ZO. Across professional skincare, peel systems and devices, the pattern repeats: the brands your clients whisper about all ask the same first question. Not how good your hands are. Not how full your diary is. What are your qualifications?
The industry is full of brilliant therapists and aestheticians who trained through short courses, built real client bases, and then hit that wall: years of genuine experience that suddenly don’t count on paper. Access to Brands exists to fix exactly that. We wrote about the ZO door policy in Skincare & Starbucks #5, and this page is the answer to it.
The qualification
When a brand, an insurer or a Level 4 course says “regulated Level 3,” here is what they actually mean, and how this pathway delivers it.
Level 2 · The foundations
Skin analysis, facial skincare, hygiene and infection control, client care and consultation. The units every regulated route is built on, and the standard insurers treat as the floor for professional practice.
Level 3 · The professional standard
Deeper anatomy and physiology and advanced facial practice. When a premium brand vets a non-medical practitioner, when Level 4 study lists its entry requirements, Level 3 is the line they draw.
This pathway · Both, combined
Access to Brands delivers the VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies: Level 2 and Level 3 content combined in one Ofqual-regulated qualification, designed as a conversion route so experienced professionals aren’t sent back to the start.
Delivered by the same medic-led team behind every MSTA pathway: efficient, respectful of your experience, and honest about what your background already covers.
Included in the pathway
A credential opens doors, but you still need to know which doors are worth walking through. One dedicated session walks you through the professional brand and technology landscape as it actually is: the skincare houses, the peel systems, the devices, what each expects of you, and which fit the treatment menu and clinic you’re building.
Physician-dispensed skincare
Dr Zein Obagi’s medical-grade line, the one clients call “the brand you can’t just buy.” UK accounts run through Wigmore Medical and require ZO Core training; for non-medical practitioners, a regulated Level 3 is the minimum ticket in.
Professional chemical peels
The professional peel house whose products appear inside MSTA’s own curriculum. Accounts are professional-only, and your training is the first question they ask.
Professional skincare
The biggest name in professional skincare. Opening a professional account means proving your qualification, and the brand’s famous education programme builds from that foundation.
Clinical skincare
Dr Peter Pugliese’s clinical line, built on skin physiology and loved by results-led skin clinics. Professional accounts only.
Medical microneedling
Crown Aesthetics’ microneedling device, the one we compare honestly in our microneedling guide. Buying the device and training on it starts with your qualification level.
…and the wider landscape: LED, radiofrequency, microdermabrasion and the technologies arriving next. By the end, you know exactly which doors your credential opens and which are worth your investment first.
Premium skincare and device brands ask for a regulated Level 3 or higher before they'll open a professional account. This pathway is the key to those doors.
A regulated, government-recognised qualification that strengthens your insurance position and future-proofs your business as the industry tightens.
Direct entry to regulated Level 4 awards: skin needling, skin peeling, dermaplaning and beyond, all delivered at MSTA.
Show clients you're trained to a standard recognised by a respected Ofqual-regulated awarding body, not just a wall of short-course certificates.
